Verizon Wireless has announced their Q2 2012 financial results in a call to investors today. Verizon announced that they have sold 5.9 million smartphones in the quarter and 2.7 million of those were Apple iPhones.
About 2.5 million of those smartphones were 4G LTE devices. Apple iPhone sales were down 16% from Q1 when Verizon sold 3.2 million iPhones. However Verizon pointed out that 25% of their iPhone sales were for new customers.
Verizon added 888,000 new postpaid subscribers and hit a total of 94.2 million retail customers.
The total retail service revenue of the quarter was $15.2 billion, which is an increase of 8.6% year-over-year. Data revenues increase 18.5% year-over-year, which means it was $6.9 billion.
