Twitter’s Vine video app has hit 40 million registered users. This is up from the 13 million that was announced in early June. This does not mean that the app has 40 million “active” users. Anyone can sign up for the app and not use it again and it would count as a user. The Vine app lets users shoot and create videos into six-second compilations, which can be posted on Twitter and other social networks.
Although 40 million users sounds like a lot, the company is still far behind from their largest competitor, Instagram. Facebook’s Instagram has around 130 million users that use it at least once per month.
