Vint Cerf To Testify Before ITU Regarding Internet Governance

Google Vice President and Chief Internet Evangelist Vint Cerf will be testifying in front of the House Energy and Commerce Communications and Technology Subcommittee on Internet Governance and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The hearing is going to examine international proposals to regulate the Internet. The ITU has an interest in increasing their authority over Internet governance. The ITU is a United Nations agency that is focused on setting international standards and policies in regards to telephone services and radio frequencies. Democratic and Republican government officials are warning that this could endanger the future of the open Internet. Vint Cerf is known as one of the “fathers of the Internet.”
