This past week, this photo went viral on Facebook. The photo is of NYPD officer Larry DePrimo buying a $100 pair of Sketchers boots and socks for a homeless man on the corner of 44th and Broadway in New York. “It was just so cold that I had to do something,” stated Officer DePrimo in an interview with reporters.
The feet of the homeless man was covered in blisters. Officer DePrimo usually works at the West Village, but he was working a detail in Midtown on November 14th. He overheard people making fun of the man for not having shoes.
“Where are your shoes?'” said Officer DePrimo to the homeless man.
Officer DePrimo heard the homeless man say “It’s OK. I’ve never had a pair of shoes, but God bless you.”
The police man ran to the Skechers store nearby and bought boots that were half off the price tag of $99. Then he bought some socks and gave it to the homeless man.
Jennifer Foster, a 911 dispatcher that was visiting New York with her husband from Arizona witnesses the whole thing and took a picture of it.
“I have been in law enforcement for 17 years,” said Ms. Foster in an interview with CBS. “I was never so impressed in my life.”
