Social media website Votizen encourages people to like-minded voters to get together and influence elections. Votizen has raised $750,000 from investors that include Sean Parker, Ashton Kutcher, Guy Oseary, A-Grade Investments, and Troy Carter. Votizen’s total funding is now at $2.25 million.
This round of funding will be used to help expand Votizen’s footprint and their staff, especially engineering talent. About 480,000 voters have been connected together by Votizen’s services.
?Politics is one of the few remaining large-scale consumer-facing opportunities on the Internet,? stated Sean Parker in an interview with AllThingsD. ?It?s a very interesting moment, where politics is a bit behind the rest of the economy in embracing these new technologies.?
Votizen spent the last two years digitizing 200 million U.S. voting records from magnetic tape, computer databases, and spreadsheets. Parker first invested in Votizen through the Founders Fund in 2010.
