A Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) subsidiary has invested in Dasient, a company that develops anti-malware software for websites and ad companies. The amount Google Ventures invested was undisclosed.
Dasient was founded by former Google employees Neil Daswani and Shariq Rizvi. Ameet Ranadive, a former Senior Associate at McKinsey also co-founded Dasient. Dasient monitors websites for malware infections and alerts the webmaster if an attack takes place on the website. The infection is then quarantined. The new round of funding will be used by Dasient to expand research, development, sales, and marketing. Dasient had reported malware on over 1.2 million websites last quarter.
