WhatsApp Hit 27 Billion Messages In One Day

WhatsApp is a cross-platform instant messaging application for smartphones that lets users send each other text messages, images, videos, and audio messages.  WhatsApp said on Twitter that they processed 27 billion messages in a single day.  Around 10 billion messages were sent and 17 billion was received.

WhatsApp said that two months ago that their record for messages in a day was at around 20 billion.  WhatsApp processed around 18 billion New Year’s Eve messages.  They also have around 200 million users.

WhatsApp generates revenue by charging $0.99 to buy the app.
