Wi-LAN Suing Apple and Several Other Companies Over Bluetooth I.P.

Posted Apr 9, 2010

Wi-LAN announced recently that they are suing Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) over patents. Wi-LAN is also suing over another two dozen other companies regarding patents related to Bluetooth. “In its filing, WiLAN claims that these companies have infringed and continue to infringe WiLAN’s U.S. Patent No. 5,515,369 by making and/or selling various products enabled with Bluetooth technology including cellular handsets and personal notebook computers.” Wi-LAN is a former manufacturing company that gave up on producing devices and now seems to be more focused on filing lawsuits regarding their I.P. The lawsuit was filed at the Marshall Division of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. Apple is also facing litigation against Nokia and Kodak over I.P. and is suing HTC over the Android handset. [MacRumors]
