Wickr is an app that lets users send text, photo, image, and video messages that can “self destruct” after the conversation is finished. The encrypted messaging is tied to a device instead of a person of user account.
Wickr services over 1 million messages per day to people in 190 countries. Wickr has raised $9 million in Series A funding led by Alsop Louie, a venture capital firm that focuses heavily on security-related technologies.
Some of the other investors in this round include Gilman Louie (former CIA ventures head), Thor Halvorssen (Human Rights Foundation president), Juniper Networks, Knight Foundation, and Richard A. Clarke (former U.S. counterterrorism).
