Windows Phone Team Scouts Former WebOS Developers

What will happen to all the webOS developers now that HP has shown them the door? Microsoft’s Brandon Watson offered them a deal to switch to Windows Phones and they jumped at the chance. He initially tweeted, “To Any Published WebOS Devs: We’ll give you what you need to be successful on #WindowsPhone, phones, dev tools, and training, etc.” The response? As The Next Web reports, more than 500 emails in less than 24 hours.

The Windows Phone team didn’t expect such an enthusiastic response, and are currently organizing a method to deal with all the interested developers. Whether they eager masses of developers are truly interested in working with Windows Phones or just interested in getting a free one remains to be seen. What’s clear is that the Windows Phone team, and Brandon Watson in particular, are reaching out not only for their platform’s gain, but out of a caring for the dev community. Watson has been making sure that each person who contacts them gets a personal response, and explained that “we have love for all developers. #webOS guys had a bit of a rough week though, so we’re looking out for them.”
