Google+ made games available on their social network less than a year ago, but some major publishers are already removing them. Wooga is removing Monster World from Google+ and Electronic Arts’ PopCap is removing Bejeweled Blitz on Monday. This is not great news for Google because Wooga is the fourth largest social game company and EA is the third largest social game company.
Even though developers considered Google+ as a way to diversify beyond Facebook, but it appears that the game companies cannot justify continuously developing for them. ?We decided to remove certain games from Google+ because we have a much larger following on Facebook and they are active users,? stated a Wooga customer care representative.
PopCap said: ?PopCap has decided to suspend Bejeweled Blitz on Google+ to redeploy our resources to other adaptations of Bejeweled. Certainly, Google is a valuable gaming partner for PopCap and EA, and we?ll continue to develop for Google platforms.?
About 40 games will remain on Google+, which is up from the 36 games they had in February. Some of the biggest games that remain include Angry Birds, Gardens of Time, CityVille, Poker, and Mafia Wars 2.
