Matt Mullenweg, the founder of Automattic, gave a presentation at the WordCamp San Francisco conference earlier this week. Automattic, the parent company of open source blog platform WordPress, hosted the eighth annual conference in San Francisco. Organizers had around 3 weeks to find a venue, find seats, and handle Internet connectivity.
There has been 314 WordCamps thus far, according to TheNextWeb. Around 72 took place in 2013 so far. And 1,026 people have spoken at WordCamps over the past year. Videos from WordCamp have been watched over 1.4 million times on their website.
WordPress In The Past Year: WordPress has seen over 46 million downloads in the past year. Around 336 themes were added, which is 2.3 times more than last year. About 6,758 plugins were approved out of 9,334 that were requested. There is now a library of about 26,000 plugins.
Mobile: 15 updates have been made on their mobile app across iOS, Android, and Windows Phone.
