Microsoft is debuting the Xbox One console later this month. What you may not know is that the Xbox One controller was redesigned 200 times before the final choice was made. At the GigaOm Roadmap conference in San Francisco, Xbox One industrial design executive Carl Ledbetter said that the console’s controller went through that many designs before settling on the one above.
The reason why Microsoft went through so many designs is because they needed to have a controller that appealed to a broad audience. Around 40% of Xbox gamers are women so that means that the controller needed to support petite hands also.
