Xiaomi is a Chinese smartphone company that is expanding on February 21st. The first country of expansion is Singapore. Xiaomi sold around 19 million phones last year in China and expanded into Hong Kong and Taiwan already.
Moving into Singapore is the first time that the company stepped out of Greater China. The name of the device that Xiaomi is launching in Singapore is called Redmi.
Redmi is an affordable Android smartphone that is priced at SG$169. It has a 4.7-inch IPS display, 1.5GHz quad-core processor, and MIUI customization ROM. Xiaomi hired Hugo Barra from Google to spearhead the company’s international development.
