Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) chief operating officer Henrique De Castro is leaving the company, effective January 16th. De Castro was the first major hire made by Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer.
Castro was brought to Yahoo! from Google with a $62 million pay package. He was at Yahoo! only a little bit over a year.
His job was to help fix Yahoo!’s relationship with large agencies to get the ad business surging again, which are huge expectations.
It was believed that De Castro constantly butted heads with Mayer, Yahoo! SVP of Americas Ned Brody, and marketing chief Kathy Savitt.
