Yahoo! Messenger Ending Jajah Partnership

Posted Dec 3, 2012

Yahoo! is removing several features from the Yahoo! Messenger chat service.  The “phone in” and “phone out” capabilities offered through their partnership with Jajah is ending as of January 30, 2013.

Yahoo! stopped taking new funds for accounts as of this past Friday and said that customers will be given information by Jajah on how to get refunds for any remaining balances.  Yahoo! said that they will offer free voice calling from one Yahoo! Messenger user to another as an alternative.

Yahoo! said that Windows Live Messenger interoperability will be ceasing on December 14th.  As you may know, Windows Live Messenger is being phased out in favor of Skype.  Yahoo! is also shutting down the Pingbox and public chat features in the IM software.
