Erin McPherson, the head of Yahoo! Video, has joined Maker Studios as the chief content officer. Maker Studios is one of the largest YouTube multichannel network operators. McPherson will be reporting to Maker Studios exec chairman Ynon Kreiz.
McPherson will lead Maker Studio’s new vertical brands, which aims to expand to more than 20 by early next year with over 100 new shows in development and regroup over 55,000 channels into 4 units. The 4 units are men, women, family, and entertainment.
?Erin is one of the most respected executives in original online video content and has a track record of developing popular programming across a variety of categories; she understands large-scale online video production,? stated Kreiz. ?This is a key position for Maker as we plan to break the mold on traditional programming concepts and produce and distribute a large slate of original video content across our vertical hubs.?
Maker Studios raised $26 million in funding. Maker Studios also acquired online video distributor, Blip.
