Yelp will soon let users add video reviews to their profiles through the Yelp mobile app. The videos can be between 3 and 12 seconds long and are intended to complement reviews rather than serving as standalone assessments.
The videos could be useful in situations when words are not descriptive enough. For example, the videos may be useful for describing the mood and noise level of the establishment. The “elite” users of Yelp will be able to test out the video recording feature first. However, all of the app’s users will be able to view the videos right away.
The videos will have to be recorded through the Yelp app itself, but eventually it will be able to be pulled from the camera roll of the device. The videos will appear in a gallery along with user-generated photos for the establishment.
