Chad Hurley, a co-founder of YouTube, is working on a new video website. “I wish [South by Southwest] was a month later because I could unveil the new product,” said Hurley while talking to Google Ventures partner Kevin Rose at the conference. Hurley added that the product is “primarily video-based…and gives flexibility for people to work together and create content,” as quoted by AdWeek.
Although AdWeek is speculating that the new service would compete directly against YouTube, I believe that it will be more along the lines of a video-editing web-based application company. During Hurley’s talk at SXSW, he also discussed how YouTube was able to integrate seamlessly into Google. Hurley also recalled how many of the acquisition discussions took place at Dennys.
