YouTube Rumored To Be In Discussions To Acquire Next New Networks

Posted Dec 16, 2010

YouTube is rumored to be in acquisition talks with web video production company Next New Networks. Next New is a start-up based in New York that was founded in 2007 to get web TV shows. They have created the YouTube series of videos under the “Barely Political” and “Indy Mogul” brands. The acquisition would be YouTube’s way of getting into producing original content. Next New Networks created the top two most-watched YouTube videos in 2010. This includes the “Bed Intruder Song” by the Gregory Brothers and a parody of Kesha’s song called “Glitter Puke.” [NYT]
