Enterprise CRM company Zoho has launched a new Card Scanner application for iOS. Users can take a photo of their business card and have the data stored in Zoho’s CRM as a new contact. The app can scan business cards in English, French, German, and Spanish. The company is planning on launching a Card Scanner app for Android soon too.
Zoho created the app with plans to help sales people save time on entering data manually. If the business card contains a Twitter handle, it will pull a photo from the user’s profile. The contact can be exported in various ways after it is added to the CRM database. The data is synced to Zoho’s CRM back-end according to Zoho Evangelist Raju Vegesna in an e-mail interview with TechCrunch. Zoho believes that tightly integrating this app into the Zoho CRM service is what makes this app unique.
Other mobile apps that lets you scan business cards include LinkedIn’s CardMunch and Evernote Hello. Another competitor is CamCard, which can process many cards and export them to Excel.
