Zynga Shuts Down 4 Offices

Posted Feb 26, 2013

Zynga has announced that they will be shutting down four of their offices.  The offices are being shut down in Baltimore, Maryland; Austin, Texas; New York; and McKinney, Texas.  The closings will lead to the loss of about 30 jobs and accounts for about 1% of their current workforce.  Zynga’s employees in the downtown office will be moved to the offices in Dallas and North Austin.  The employees in the New York office will be moved to their mobile studio.

Zynga COO David Ko said ?While these decisions are always difficult, these steps will affect approximately one percent of our workforce and enable us to focus our resources on the most significant growth opportunities.?  Ko said that the company is focused on “franchises, network, and profitability.”  Zynga has shut down games like Cityville 2, Party Friends, and The Friend Game earlier this month.  Towards the end of last year, they also shut down the games Mafia Wars 2 and PetVille.
