Today Zynga has announced a soft launch of FarmVille 2: Country Escape along with two other updated core titles coming before the end of March. This is part of a strategy to shift into a mobile-focused company.
FarmVille 2: Country Escape will have a virtual goods exchange where players can trade produce and animals. There will also be a chat portal in the game. Users will be able to play FarmVille 2: Country Escape offline.
Zynga Poker and Words With Friends will be launching on iOS and Android phones/tablets in undisclosed markets. It will officially launch by the end of June everywhere else.
Recently appointed Zynga CEO Don Mattrick oversaw job cuts the the $527 million acquisition of NaturalMotion, the company behind “Clumsy Ninja.” Zynga shares increased 65% since Mattrick was named as the head of the company. Mattrick used to be the head of the Xbox business at Microsoft.
Mattrick was hired at a time where Zynga’s bookings declined four quarters in a row. Zynga is forecasting 2014 bookings at a range of $760-$810 million.
