Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) announced plans to open up its first fulfillment center in Waco, Texas — which is anticipated to launch in 2021 and will create over 1,000 new full-time jobs. These are the details.

In the 700,000 square-foot robotics fulfillment center, Amazon employees are going to pick, pack, and ship small items to customers such as books, electronics and toys. Along with Amazon’s minimum $15 per hour wage, the company offers full-time employees benefits including full medical, vision, and dental insurance as well as a 401(k) with 50% match starting on day one. Amazon is also offering up to 20 weeks of maternal and parental paid leave and innovative benefits such as Leave Share and Ramp Back, which give new parents flexibility to support their growing families.

Since 2010, Amazon created over 43,000 jobs in Texas and the company invested more than $16.9 billion across the state, including infrastructure and compensation to employees. And Amazon’s investments have contributed to over $18.8 billion in GDP to the Texas economy and have helped create over 49,000 indirect jobs on top of Amazon’s direct hires: from jobs in construction and logistics to professional services. Over 116,000 independent authors and small and medium businesses in Texas are selling to customers in Amazon’s store, creating thousands of additional jobs across the state.
