  • Beyond Meat announced it has expanded partnerships with Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. and plans to launch poultry options in 2020

Plant-based meat substitute company Beyond Meat has made some major announcements this week. The first announcement is the expansion of a partnership with Hardee’s and Carl’s Jr. through the offering of more menu items and expansion to new locations.

The chains will offer Beyond Meat products on the breakfast, lunch, and dinner menus this month.

Carl’s Jr. already sells the Beyond Burger and now they will offer breakfast burritos and sandwiches with Beyond’s sausage. And Hardee’s — which has been testing sausage and burger menu products from Beyond Meat at several locations — will now be brought to all of its restaurants.

“It really is a validation that the brand is performing well in the quick-service restaurants (QSR) chains,” said Beyond Meat chief growth officer Charles Muth via Bloomberg. CKE pointed out that Carl’s Jr. sold out over 6.7 million Beyond Famous Star Burgers to date.

These are not the only restaurants that are running Beyond Meat products. Dunkin’ Brands Group added Beyond Breakfast Sandwiches on its menu at over 9,000 U.S. locations in November.

In the new year, Beyond Meat is also planning to introduce new vegan chicken products such as whole-tissue vegan chicken breasts.

“You’ll see some exciting things from us in the poultry space in 2020,” explained Beyond Meat CEO Ethan Brown in a separate interview with Bloomberg.

Earlier this year, Beyond Meat started testing products with Kentucky Fried Chicken at a location in Atlanta. And the test was very successful as the location sold out of vegan chicken in approximately five hours.
