CVS Health Partners With DoorDash For Same-Day Grocery Delivery

CVS Health Corp (NYSE: CVS) announced it partnered with DoorDash for same-day delivery of groceries, food, and non-prescription items. There will be over 3,000 products that will be available for purchase through the DoorDash mobile app and website.

Some of the items that can be order include perishable and non-perishable items like milk, nuts, cereal, cookies, health products, household products, and over-the-counter medicines.

CVS deliveries through DoorDash is available in Dallas, Houston, Philadelphia, and New York City. Next month, the service will be expanded to additional boroughs in New York City like Bronx and Brooklyn along with cities like the San Francisco and Boston metropolitan areas. A larger national launch is expected to happen next month as well. This same-day delivery access partnership reaches 100 million Americans so far.

DoorDash is the third on-demand delivery company that CVS partnered with. CVS is also partnered with Instacart and Shipt. 

“We are committed to providing our customers with convenient delivery methods that suit their lifestyle,” said George Coleman, senior vice president of merchandising at CVS Health. “This partnership allows customers to get the non-prescription daily essentials they need, while continuing to practice social distancing.” 

The CVS orders with DoorDash default to no-contact delivery. This means that the “Dashers” will leave the order in a secure location designated by customers.

There is also a promotion that launched in connection with the partnership between CVS and DoorDash. DoorDash is offering 20% off (up to $5) for CVS items sold through the app on the customer’s first order of $15 or more. And CVS also waived the fees for prescription deliveries through USPS between now and June 30.

“Delivery has become a lifeline to local communities during this unprecedented time, which is why DoorDash has accelerated efforts on the heels of its convenience launch to bring vital household necessities to customers’ doorsteps,” added DoorDash in a company statement.
