The Walt Disney Company (DIS) recently reported earnings for the third fiscal quarter ended July 2, 2022. Below are the highlights.
1.) Revenues for the quarter and nine months grew 26% and 28%, respectively.
2.) Diluted earnings per share (EPS) from continuing operations for the quarter increased to $0.77 from $0.50 in the prior-year quarter. Excluding certain items(1), diluted EPS for the quarter increased to $1.09 from $0.80 in the prior-year quarter.
3.) Diluted EPS from continuing operations for the nine months ended July 2, 2022, increased to $1.66 from $1.02 in the prior-year period. Excluding certain items(1), diluted EPS for the nine months increased to $3.22 from $1.91 in the prior-year period.
4.) Q3 EPS of $1.09, which was $0.11 higher than analyst estimates of $0.98.
5.) Revenue for the quarter was $21.5 billion compared to the consensus estimate of $20.99 billion.
