GM Stock Price Increased 4.53%: Why It Happened

  • The stock price of General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) increased by 4.53% as it went from a previous close to $43.06 to $45.01. This is why it happened.

The stock price of General Motors Company (NYSE: GM) increased by 4.53% as it went from a previous close to $43.06 to $45.01. One of the triggers for the stock price increase has to do with GM revamping its brand with an emphasis on electrification.

And GM is deploying a marketing campaign for its commitment to accelerate the deployment of electric vehicles. The marketing campaign is branded as “Everybody In,” which is pushing to make electric vehicles more inclusive and accessible. And GM’s push for electric vehicle initiatives also comes at a time when the U.S. government is transitioning to an administration that favors green energy.

The “Everybody In” campaign has 3 themes:

1.) Exciting a new generation of buyers and accelerating EV adoption

2.) Demonstrating GM’s EV leadership, which includes the investment of $27 billion in EV and AV products through 2025 and the launches of 30 new EVs globally by the end of 2025

3.) Highlighting the range, performance and flexibility of the Ultium platform

The Ultium platform is going to be the foundation for GM’s EV lineup, which powers everything from mass-market to high-performance vehicles, including the GMC HUMMER EV and Cadillac LYRIQ. And GM’s Ultium platform will be capable of delivering an EV that can go up to 450 miles on a full charge and is capable of 0-60 mph performance in as little as three seconds for some models.

GM is also bringing in several influencers for the campaign. The influencers include author Malcolm Gladwell, surfer Bethany Hamilton, fitness guru Cody Rigsby, and gamer Erin A. Simon.

“There are moments in history when everything changes. Inflection points. We believe such a point is upon us for the mass adoption of electric vehicles. Unlike ever before, we have the solutions, capability, technology and scale to put everyone in an EV. Our new brand identity and campaign are designed to reflect this.”

“GM has the talent, technology and ambition to advance a safer world for all, help reduce emissions and accelerate toward our all-electric future. ‘Everybody In’ demonstrates our intent to lead, while inviting others – policymakers, partners, individuals – to play an active role in moving society forward, whether that’s helping to expand infrastructure, advocating for progress in their communities, or simply taking an EV for a test drive to learn about the benefits of EV ownership.”
