Philadelphia-based Guru announced it has raised $30 million in Series C funding led by Accel, according to Crunchbase. Existing investors Emergence Capital, FirstMark Capital, Slack, and Michael Dell’s MSD Capital also joined the funding round. Including this round of funding, Guru has raised nearly $71 million in total.

Guru co-founder and CEO Rick Nucci told Crunchbase that the digital transformation was accelerated with the COVID-19 pandemic, which forced people to work from home.

“Companies of every size and category are transitioning to remote work, changing their services to meet needs, and seeing sudden drops (or increases) in demand,” said Nucci via Crunchbase. “Given recent events, we are increasing our commitment (to customers) to make sure that collaborative knowledge management feels easy and is attainable for all teams.”

And Accel Partner Miles Clements pointed out that Guru is the “underlying thread” that ties together some of the best experiences offered by other productivity apps.

Some of Guru’s customers include Spotify, Slack, Sweetgreen, GitHub, Airtable, and Noom.

Nucci founded Guru with Mitchell Stewart. They both previously launched a company called Boomi (acquired by Dell). The idea behind launching Guru had to do with their experiences at Dell, which was lacking a platform for providing employees with the knowledge they needed to do their jobs and bring in workflows.
