The Microsoft Project Scarlett will not be available until about this time next year. However, Microsoft executive vice president of gaming Phil Spencer was able to get his hands on one already.

“And it’s started….this week I brought my Project Scarlett console home and it’s become my primary console, playing my games, connecting to the community and yes, using my Elite Series 2 controller, having a blast. Great work by the team, 2020 is going to be an incredible year,” said Spencer in a tweet.

It is unknown whether Spencer is using a final version of the console to test or a development kit version. Unfortunately, Spencer did not reveal which games he is playing on the console.

But there’s a good chance that he could be playing ‘Halo Infinite’ since that is the game that will be launching at about the same time as the new Xbox console. When the Project Scarlett console is released, it will compete with the Sony PlayStation 5.

Microsoft Head of Xbox Game Studios Matt Booty said that Scarlett has a major advantage of its competition: backward compatibility. Project Scarlett will support games made for Xbox One, Xbox 360, and the original Xbox 360.

Microsoft Project Scarlett and Sony PlayStation 5 will both support 8K resolution and ray-tracing. The price of Project Scarlett and PlayStation 5 console is not yet known.
