The stock price of Tesla (TSLA) fell by over 2% pre-market today.
Why: Tesla is reportedly recalling over 1 million vehicles in the U.S. due to faulty automatic window reversal systems, which may not be able to detect obstruction.
“If a window is closing and detects an obstruction, the condition may increase the risk of a pinching injury to the occupant,” says the recall document.
This recall includes Model 3 vehicles built between 2017 and 2022, Model Y vehicles built between 2020 and 2021, and Model S and Model X vehicles built between 2021 and 2022. The owners of the vehicles will be notified starting November 15.
Tesla said it is not aware of any crashes, injuries, or deaths related to the condition. And as of September 13, the vehicles in production and in pre-delivery received a software update that sets the power-operated window operation to cover the requirements.
