Introducing the OnTour Widget, Automatically Find Local Concerts Of Your Choice

OnTour.net, has recently unleashed a widget that is compatible with the Yahoo! Widget Engine. And Startup Squad had reported that when you set the OnTour widget (which works on PCs and Macs) automatically searches your hard drive and displays concerts that are relevant to your music tastes. PassAlong Networks, a private company, had developed OnTour.

For OnTour to function, PC users would have to download & install the Yahoo! Widget Engine and then add the OnTour Widget to the widget folder.  The widget will collect information from your MP3 players such as iTunes and refresh itself when it imports concert information relevant to your music tastes.  If the widget doesn’t automatically collect concert information about your favorite artists, then “you can always manually add the artist name in the widget settings. Apart from these results you can always search in the widget by your location or by the artist name you are interested in. OnTour widget links each result with your default music store to enable each download/purchase of the song [StartupSquad].”  OnTour is planning on making money by developing an advertising scheme on the widget.

OnTour was the most downloaded widget for 3 days by Mac Users and the company announced that OnTour received the “Best Use of Technology by an Artist” award.  The widget will soon have the ability to be embedded into MySpace.
