Facebook Enhances Status Updates Features

Facebook.com LogoAbout one year ago, Facebook introduced an away message system known as ‘Status Updates.’  The purpose of this feature is so that users would not have to update their profile whenever they wanted people to know what they’re up to.  I use it whenever I travel to let people know if I’ll be around their city. 

Facebook has now created a central page that displays all of a users’ friends status updates.  Whenever that user updates their status, now it actually says “Amit is [fill in message here]:

Along with the new page, Facebook has added ways to subscribe to any users’ individual status updates via RSS.  Not only that, but now users can update their status updates by sending an SMS message to Facebook from their mobile phones.

These new features were confirmed by Mark Slee on the Facebook blog.
