Utah Woman Suing Google For Walking Directions That Involve A Highway


A woman in Utah named Lauren Rosenberg is suing Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) because of the “Walking” feature on Google Maps.
Rosenberg used Google Maps on January 19, 2009 through her BlackBerry to get walking directions between 96 Daly Street, Park City, Utah and 1710 Prospector Avenue, Park City, Utah (shown in the embedded map below). Google suggested her to walk 1/2 mile down Deer Valley Drive, but the problem was that this road is also known as the busy highway Utah State Route 224, which does not have any sidewalks.

Waterproof HD Camcorder Sanyo DMX-CA100 To Be Available In June


Sanyo has released the world’s first waterproof full HD camcorder that is capable of recording 1080p resolution.  This is the perfect device for people who like to often go boating, snorkeling, scuba, etc. The camera is called the Sanyo DMX-CA100 and it will be available at the end of June.  The camera can record underwater at about 3 meters for up to an hour while meeting IPX8 standards.  Resolution for video is 1920 x 1080 with MPEG-4 AVC and H.264 formats.  The camera can also take 14 megapixel pictures, including 22 photos in a row at 7 frames per second if you want sequential shooting.  Zoom is 12x. Skype iPhone App Now Has 3G Calling


Skype has updated their iPhone and iPod Touch (2nd gen+) application to include 3G calling.  The original version had VoIP calling through WiFi.  Skype-to-Skype calls on the 3G network will be free, but of course you will still need to have a data plan.  However the free 3G Skype calling is expected to be around until the end of this year and then they may consider a monthly fee later on.  [Skype Blog]

Two Million iPads Have Been Sold In Under 60 Days


Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has sold two million iPads in less than 60 days the company said in a press release.  The iPad went for sale on April 3rd.  This past weekend, Apple started selling the device in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Spain, and the U.K.  In July, the iPad will be available in nine additional countries. “Customers around the world are experiencing the magic of iPad, and seem to be loving it as much as we do,” stated Apple CEO Steve Jobs. “We appreciate their patience, and are working hard to build enough iPads for everyone.” [Apple Press Release]

AT&T To Sell iPhone Insurance For $13.99 Per Month


AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) will be launching a new insurance service starting on June 6th called MobileProtect. This insurance is specifically made for the Apple iPhone and will have a price tag of $13.99 per month.

Facebook Testing Out Related Photos Feature


Facebook is testing out a new feature that appears in the sidebar of the albums and photo feature called Related Photos. It will display pictures from people that uploaded the album that you are looking at and additional pictures of your friends who are tagged in the album you are viewing according to InsideFacebook.

Meet The Chinese Rip Off Called The iPed


In Shenzhen, China, a complete iPad rip off called the iPed has been launched. Shenzhen is the same place where the iPad itself is manufactured at the Foxconn plant. The device says iPed on the user interface screen, but the instructions in the box call it the APad. The iPed is powered by an Intel chip and runs on Android. The iPed costs the equivalent of $105. Fisker Automotive Raises $189 Million From Private Equity Firms


Fisker Automotive has raised a $189 million round of funding from private equity firms. This means that Fisker now has over $339 million in funding since they started three years ago. Through this round of funding, Fisker plans to get a major federal loan and acquire a former GM assembly plant in Delaware.

Twitter Surpasses 15 Billion Tweets


Twitter has passed the 15 billion tweet mark. About 3 months ago, Twitter passed 10 billion tweets. The estimated 15 billionth tweet is shown below. It was sent out by @EGRK. The one billionth tweet was sent out in November 2008. The reason why we don’t know the exact 15 billionth tweet was because some manipulation had to be done in order to adapt to the Twitpocalypse.
