Beyond Oblivion was preparing to launch in 2012, but ended up shutting down instead before they had even launched their product. Beyond Oblivion was planning on launching an unlimited music service called Boinc. Users would get unlimited streaming and downloading access through the Boinc music library for a lifetime with the device that you would have to buy along with the service. Social music and sharing features would be included as well. Why did the company shut down? Possibly because of their inability to negotiate music labels for licensing deals. The company had raised over $87 million in funding since being founded in 2008. [TheNextWeb]

The list of supporters (PDF) of the Stop Online Pirate Act (SOPA) has been updated. it appears that Sony and Nintendo have both dropped out, which indicates that they are not directly in support of the bill as a company any more. Both of these companies were endorsing the bill back in November. Likely the two companies saw the outrage that Internet advocates have made about the bill and decided to no longer be associated with SOPA. [Electronista]

A company called Official App has added an app to the Android Market called Siri for Android. The funny thing about this app is that it simply opens the “Google Voice Actions” app within Android. Clearly this is a gag app and fortunately it is free. This app has been installed on between 1,000-5,000 phones. I doubt Google will remove the app since this is the type of thing an Android owner can use to show off if an iPhone 4S owner says “Look my phone has Siri!” [The Next Web]

This past August former HP CEO Mark Hurd stepped down from the company after he was caught sending a sexual harassment letter. Hurd had a personal relationship with contractor Jodie Fisher, who had worked at HP as a greeter and hostess at company events. Hurd currently works at Oracle Corporation as a co-president and Meg Whitman has replaced him at Hewlett Packard. AllThingsD got their hands on the letter that attorney Gloria Allred wrote to Hurd on behalf of Jodie Fisher. I have embedded the letter below.
