This Rage Comic Helped Save A Man’s Life

Earlier this week, this rage comic was posted on Reddit by user CappnPoopdeck.  The rage comic told a true story of her friend.  Her friend used the bathroom on his ex-girlfriend’s pregnancy test himself and found out that the results came out positive.  While it made for an interesting punchline for a comic, it turns out that the Reddit commenters were able to diagnose a medical problem through the results of that test.

Medical student and Reddit user Wecancallmeb explained “OP should absolutely see his physician to be safe. Pregnancy tests are based on levels of human chorionic gonadotropin which is produced by the placenta, but in a male it can be elevated by testicular cancer.”

After noticing all the comments about testicular cancer, she immediately told her friend and he got himself checked out right away.  It turns out that her friend had a small tumor.  Even though this form of crowdsourcing was inadvertent, it turned out to be very effective.  This makes me like Rage Comics even more.
