GigaOm Raises $8 Million In Funding As Om Malik Steps Down

By Amit Chowdhry • Feb 20, 2014

GigaOm, the popular tech blog network, has raised $8 million from Shea Ventures, Alloy Ventures, and Reed Elsevier Ventures.

Om Malik, the founder of the network, is going to join True Ventures as a partner and hang up his “reporter’s notebook.” He will no longer be a day-to-day employee at Gigaom. But he will continue to be a board member, occasional columnist, and a fixture at the events.

Gigaom launched a dynamic research platform in 2014 and has many large companies as their customers. The business is growing at a rapid pace, which is why the company raised additional funding.

GigaOM currently employs 70 people. And the company started to focus on events and paid research back in 2008.
