Tempered Networks Raises $15 Million In Series A Funding

By Noah Long • Mar 5, 2015

Tempered Networks is a company that provides secure connectivity for critical infrastructure and information that has raised $15 million in Series A funding led by Ignition Partners with participation from IDG Ventures. This means that Tempered Networks has raised a total of $22 million thus far.

Tempered Networks will be using the funding to build upon sales, marketing, and engineering teams and expand its distribution channels. Ignition Ventures managing partner John Connors is also joining Tempered Networks’ board of directors.

“The proliferation of connected devices is increasing enterprises’ exposure to security breaches by orders of magnitude,” said Connors in a statement. “Tempered Networks’ industrial hardened solution and world-class team will be mission critical to companies needing to secure their connected assets, across edge, corporate, and industrial networks.”

Tempered Networks’ technology has been commercialized since 2012. And it has protected critical infrastructure — which is typically controlled by ICS (Industrial Control Systems) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems — from cyber security attacks. Some of Tempered Networks’ customers include a number of companies in the manufacturing, oil and gas, and utilities sectors.
