MuleSoft Acquires ProgrammableWeb From Alcatel-Lucent

MuleSoft has acquired ProgrammableWeb from Alcatel-Lucent.  This is a way for Alcatel-Lucent to exit from the API market.  MuleSoft is a data integration company that is considered a GitHub for APIs.  MuleSoft will be integrating their APIhub into ProgrammableWeb’s API database.  ProgrammableWeb now has a place where they can extend their API database to a community that can build out apps that use the APIhub platform.

Alcatel CEO Ben Verwaayen Steps Down

Ben Verwaayen, the CEO of Alcatel-Lucent, is stepping down.  Verwaayen was the CEO of Alcatel-Lucent over the last 4 years.  During his time as CEO, the telecommunications company struggled to stay competitive.  After Wall Street heard about his departure, the company’s shares jumped 7.7% in early trading to €1.40 per share.

Alcatel To Launch One Touch Evo 7 and Evo 7 HD Tablets In May

Alcatel is launching the One Touch Evo 7 and Evo 7 HD tablet soon.  Both of these tablets can be upgraded to support mobile data connections and add-on modules.  The Evo 7 HD has a 7-inch WXGA (1,280 x 800) display, 1GB RAM, dual-core 1.6GHz CPU, 4GB storage, microSD card slot, 3-megapixel rear camera, front-facing VGA camera, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.  The 3G module of the Evo 7 HD will cost $249 and the 4G module will cost $349.  The Evo 7 will have a 7-inch WSVGA (1,024 x 600) display, 1GB RAM, single-core 1GHz CPU, 4GB storage, microSD slot, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.  The Evo 7 is limited to WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, and an optional HSPA+ 21 module.  [Source: Engadget]

The Alcatel One Touch Scribe HD Smartphone Is Coming In Q2 2013 For $397

The Alcatel One Touch Scribe HD is a smartphone that is almost the size of tablet.  The Alcatel One Touch Scribe HD has a 5″ IPS HD display, 1.2GHz quad-core MediaTek processor, 1GB RAM, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera, front-facing HD camera, and Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system.  The Alcatel One Touch Scribe HD will be arriving in Q2 2013 for a price of $397 in many different colors.  The One Touch Scribe HD is coming to Europe in March 2013 and will likely arrive in the U.S. later than that.  [Source: UberGizmo]

The Alcatel One Touch Idol Ultra Is Now The ‘World’s Slimmest Smartphone’

Earlier this month we wrote about how the Alcatel One Touch Idol is considered the lightest phone in it’s category.  Alcatel can also boast that the One Touch Idol Ultra can be considered the ”world’s slimmest smartphone.”  The Idol Ultra is 6.45-millimeters (0.25 inches) thick.  The phone also packs a 4.7-inch AMOLED display with 720p resolution, 8-megapixel camera, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and Android Jelly Bean.  The iPhone 5 is only 0.05 inches thicker than the Idol Ultra.  Unfortunately the Idol Ultra does not have 4G LTE connectivity though.

Alcatel One Touch Tab Tablets Are Starting At $129 And Is Coming In Q3

Alcatel has announced that they have launched a new line of tablets called the One Touch Tab.  Each of the tablets will be arriving in Q3 with Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) built in.  Unfortunately the One Touch Tab will not have a mobile data option because they will be limited to just WiFi and Bluetooth 2.0.

The Alcatel One Touch Idol Weighs Only 110g

Earlier this month at CES 2012, Alcatel announced a new device called the One Touch Idol.  The Alcatel One Touch Idol is considered the lightest phone in its category.  The One Touch Idol is an Android smartphone that has a 4.7″ AMOLED display screen.  It weighs only 110g compared to the 112g weight that the iPhone 5 has.  The Idol will have a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 512 MB RAM, 8 megapixel rear-facing camera, and 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera.  The Idol can capture video in Full HD 1080p.  The pricing and availability of the Idol is not yet known.
