Fair Labor Association Says That iPad Manufacturing Plants Are Better Than Normal


The Fair Labor Association (FLA) has reported that the working conditions at Chinese manufacturing plants where iPads and iPhones are being built are better conditions than other facilities elsewhere in the country like garment factories. The FLA has started a study of the working conditions at Apple’s top 8 suppliers in China ever since there were several reports of worker suicides.

Apple To Start Having Apps Require User Permission For Collecting Contact Data


After the Path controversy and government intervention, Apple has announced that they will start requiring iPhone applications require user permission for collecting contact data. After Path was caught red-handed, other companies that were discovered to be doing the same thing was Twitter, Foursquare, and Yelp.

Tim Cook Answers Questions At Goldman Sachs Technology Conference


Apple CEO Tim Cook spoke at the Goldman Sachs Technology and Internet Conference in San Francisco, California yesterday. He answered questions about the working conditions in Chinese factories, 37 million iPhones being sold in Q1 2012, breaking into emerging markets, the halo effect in emerging markets, 55 million iPads being sold, tablet competition, product pricing, use of their cash (such as dividends), cannibalization of Mac sales by the iPad, Apple TV, iCloud, Siri, and corporate culture. Apple Working With Suppliers To Test Out Tablet With Smaller Screen


Apple is currently working with their suppliers to test out a new tablet that has a smaller screen. Apple is looking to broaden their product pipeline amidst intensifying competition. Apple has shown screen designs to suppliers for a new device that would have a screen size of 8 inches.

Audits By Fair Labor Association At Foxconn Start Today


Apple has sent out a press release announcing that today the Fair Labor Association will be conducting special voluntary audits of Apple’s final assembly suppliers including Foxconn’s factories in Shenzhen and Chengdu. There will be a team of labor rights experts led by FLA president Auret van Heerden starting today at the facility in Shenzhen called Foxconn City.

iTV In UK Deny That They Warned Apple About Name Use


Today The Telegraph UK wrote an article about how iTV, a television network has warned Apple not to brand a smart television iTV. Immediately after Telegraph published the story, iTV has denied that they warned Apple about using the name. iTV sent a statement to The Verge saying “The Telegraph’s piece is entirely speculative, and there has been no communication between ITV and Apple. ITV has no further comment on the matter.”
