Report: Apple Ships Over 13.6 Million iPads In Q2 2012

According to a report by DisplaySearch.com, Apple Inc. has shipped nearly 17.2 million mobile PCs in Q1 2012. DisplaySearch cites the latest NPD DisplaySearch Quarterly Mobile PC Shipment and Forecast Report for the data. About 80% of Apple’s mobile PC shipments were iPads, which hit over 13.6 million units in the quarter. Total PC shipments in Q1 2012 were 76.2 million units. This led to a seasonal drop of 15% compared to Q4 2011. Apple’s mobile shipments of 17.2 million mobile PCs worldwide for the quarter gave them a 22.5% market share. This is more than double their closest rival, Hewlett Packard.
REPORT: New iPhone Coming In September, 7″ iPad In August

Apple supplier Pegatron has reportedly landed orders for the next-generation iPhone in September. Foxconn is supposedly manufacturing a new 7-inch iPad in August. DigiTimes reported the rumors after citing sources in the Taiwan technology supply chain. The report also claims that a new 10-inch iPad will arrive in the fourth quarter of 2012 and is being manufactured by Pegatron. Apple’s current 9.7-inch iPad received an update this past March with a Retina display and 4G LTE. It is just known as “Apple iPad,” but is often referred to as the iPad 3. The 7″ iPad will supposedly have a screen resolution of 1,024 by 768 pixels.
Spotify Launches An iPad App

Spotify has officially launched an iPad app. The app is brilliantly designed for a larger screen. The iPad app is available to Spotify’s three million premium subscribers, but there is a trial version available. Unfortunately the iPad app does not work with all of the new Spotify apps. The way Spotify works on the desktop is by using a P2P network, which uses your Internet connection to help provide music for other people on the network. The Spotify iPad app streams music directly from Spotify’s servers. Check out the demo video below:

Apple iPad 4G Claims Being Investigated In U.K.

Apple is being investigated in the United Kingdom on whether the new iPad is actually “4G capable.” The Advertising Standards Agency (ASA) is widening their investigation into the advertising of the new iPad. Currently there is not any 4G LTE access in the U.K. right now and the telecomm companies there have not advertised their HSPA services as 4G.

LinkedIn Now Has An iPad App

LinkedIn has recently updated their iOS app to be Universal for supporting the iPhone and the iPad. The LinkedIn iPhone app has been around for a while, but the LinkedIn iPad app is brand new. This is big news for the company since 22% of LinkedIn’s active members visit them from mobile devices. The iPad app was built with a tablet interface in mind and they wanted to make sure that the app satisfied the needs of iPad users. LinkedIn noticed that iPad users were visiting the website mostly in the morning and between 7PM and 11PM.

New Apple iPad To Be Available In 21 Additional Countries This Month

Apple has announced today that the new iPad will be available in 11 more countries starting April 20th. The new iPad has a Retina Display, A5X chip with quad-core graphics, and a 5-megapixel iSight camera with advanced optics, and 1080p HD video. The new iPad has a 10 hour battery life. The 11 countries that the tablet will now be available in areSouth Korea, Brunei, Croatia, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Malaysia, Panama, St Maarten, Uruguay and Venezuela. One week after that, the new iPad will be available in Colombia, Estonia, India, Israel, Latvia, Lithuania, Montenegro, South Africa and Thailand.
Apple iPad WiFi Issues Could Be Fixed With Future Software Update

Aaron Vronko, the CEO of Rapid Repair in Portage, Michigan, said that he believes the WiFi issues that people are reporting about their iPad is not a hardware problem. Apple is most likely building a software update that would fix the issue. Apple acknowledge the WiFi problems in the iPad a few days ago. Some of the symptoms include slow WiFi speeds, bad connections, and the inability to detect the router.

TwitchTV Launches iPad and Android Apps To Stream Game Tournaments

TwitchTV is a video game portal and gamer community that launched last June as a spin-off from Justin.tv. Up until now, TwitchTV did not have a native mobile app for the iPad or Android. TwitchTV features live video of game tournaments.

Apple Has Smaller iPad In Their Labs

Apple is supposedly working on a smaller version of the iPad in their Cupertino labs according to John Gruber. Gruber said that the 7.85-inch prototype runs at the same 1024×768 resolution as the iPad 1 and 2. It would have around 163 pixels per inch. It is uncertain whether Apple will actually release the device because Steve Jobs once dismissed smaller tablets as “dead on arrival.”
