New Microsoft Commercial Targets Apple iPad

For the last several months, most of Microsoft’s ads were targeted at Google as part of a campaign called “Scroogled.”  This was followed up with an ad where Microsoft made fun of Apple iPhone and Samsung Galaxy fans.  Now Microsoft is going after the Apple iPad specifically in a new commercial that promotes a Windows 8 tablet.

Apple Has A Large Police Investigation Backlog For Device Decryption

Whenever the police seizes iPhones and iPads from suspects and criminals, they generally send Apple a request to help them decrypt information.  These requests have become so common that Apple now has a large waiting list.  According to court documents reviewed by CNET, an agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives were told that there would be a 7-week wait before Apple can handle the case that he submitted.

American Airlines Report Less Injuries Due To iPad Switch

American Airlines replaced heavy airline manuals with Apple iPads in December 2011.  iPads can be used throughout all phase of a flight.  American Airlines is the only carrier that has been able to do this so far.  Pilots can also use iPads when the planes are below 10,000 feet too.

Groupon Updates Mobile App To Support Global Search and Android Tablets

Groupon has updated their iPhone and Android application to include a universal search feature, which enables consumers to search for deals nearby.  The search covers discounts that are time-sensitive and deals that are rolling.  Groupon’s search enhancements will help keep consumers engaged with the company’s mobile apps in a market where they are competing against companies like Yelp and Foursquare.  The update has been applied to customers in the U.S. and will be rolled out internationally later this year.

Amazon Launches Music Streaming App Cloud Player For The iPad

A couple weeks ago Amazon.com announced that the Amazon Cloud Player will be integrated with the Ford Sync AppLink platform.  The company has announced today that their iOS application has been updated with native support for the Apple iPad.  The Amazon Cloud Player iPad app looks similar to the iPhone version that was launched about a year and a half ago.

Hulu Gets A Kids Lock On The iPad

The Hulu app on Android had a Kids Lock feature for quite a while.  Now the same feature is available on the iPhone and iPad.  The Hulu Kids Lock is a virtual button that makes it possible for parents to block mature content from being viewed by kids.  Parents can disable to the Kids Lock by inputting a password.  The feature was added in version 2.7 of Hulu for iOS.
