General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) has announced the 2015 ATS coupe, which is launching in summer 2014. This is GM’s first compact luxury coupe. Consumers will get a choice between a rear-wheel drive or all-wheel driver. It will have either a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder or a 3.6L six-cylinder.

The Cadillac ELR Will Start At $75,995 When Launching In January 2014

The Cadillac ELR is going to be available for sale starting this January.  The price of the two-door plug-in car will start at $75,995.  When applying a $7,500 federal tax credit for plug in vehicles, the ELR will cost around $68,500.

General Motors Company (GM) CEO Dan Akerson: We Will Compete With Tesla With A Cadillac

General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) chief executive officer Dan Akerson said that they have plans to take on electric car company Tesla Motors Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) through the Cadillac brand.  Aside from talking about how GM will compete with Tesla, Akerson praised them for being able to establish a brand compared to other startup electric vehicles.

GM Is Planning To Build 20% More Hybrids This Year Than 2012

General Motors is going to build around 36,000 Chevrolet Volt and plug-in hybrids this year.  This is 20% more than they sold in 2012.  GM is working on building around 1,500-3,000 plug-in vehicles per month.  The company sold around 30,000 Volt and Opel Ampera cars in 2012 according to GM spokesman Jim Cain.

Cadillac CUE To Improve Responsiveness Later This Year

General Motors is working on updating the Cadillac User Experience (CUE) infotainment system.  The system has a capacitive touchscreen and multi-touch controls.  Unfortunately the CUE is not responsive and it lags.  Later this year, Cadillac will release an update for the infotainment system to improve the feedback for the touchscreen controls and the capacitive virtual buttons on the center stack.

Cadillac ELR Plugin To Be Manufactured At Volt Assembly Plant Next Year

General Motors Company will start building the Cadillac ELR plug-in electric coupe at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Plant starting next year according to GM North American President Mark Reuss.  This plant is also known for building the Chevrolet Volt.  The plant will get a $35 million investment to build the extended-range Cadillac ELR.
