As much as I like Apple products, they also seem to be the preferred products to steal. Remember when the iPad first came out and a man lost his finger when someone tried to snatch his bag? Well apparently there is a mugger walking around Columbia University that is a hardcore Apple fanboy too.
George Castro is a man described as a man that is “familiar with the university’s accounts payable system.” Castro modified an existing Columbia University account to add his name as a payee and received $4.5 million. He claimed that he did not know how it happened and said that “the funds simply appeared in his account.” He was caught with a brand new Audi car and had $200,000 stuffed into a bag. Castro is currently being held on a $2 million bail. [NY Post]
Bill Gates and Warren Buffett, the two richest men in the United States with a combined net worth of $77 billion did a presentation at the Columbia University Business School in New York City. CNBC host Becky Quick moderated the discussion and set up the question and answer session between the students. The title of the discussion was called Keeping America Great. Above is the video. A couple of days ago Steve Case appeared on CNBC regarding the launching of his new website, RevolutionHealth.com. One of the questions that Case was asked is if RevolutionHealth will pursue an IPO. Case agreed that this is a direction that he wanted to follow.
According to alarm:clock, RevolutionHealth acquired CarePages, a portal that allows families to create virtual meeting places. CarePages also allows families to share news and 52 photos. CarePages receives about 30 million page views per month and has deals with over 500 hospitals. CarePages was VC-funded by Woodland Venture Management and Hopewell Ventures.
