Google Officially Launches Latitude App For iPhone

On December 8th I wrote about how the Google Latitude iPhone application will be releasing soon. Today Google has officially announced the Latitude iPhone application. The Google Latitude iPhone application shows you where your friends are on a Google Map. Between Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, and Symbian there are about 9 million mobile Google Latitude users. Check out the video demo below:

Google Is Activating 300,000 Android Phones Per Day
There are over 300,000 Android phones activated each day.
Google Inc. (NASDAQ:GOOG) VP of Engineering Andy Rubin wrote on Twitter that the company is activating 300,000 new Android phones per day. This number is higher than the phones that Apple, BlackBerry, and Symbian is activating per day. When you extrapolate these numbers, Google is close to activating 10 million phones per month. Andy Rubin, the VP of Engineering at Google that is overseeing the development of Android was at the D: Dive Into Mobile conference. At the conference, Rubin said that the Android started as an 8 person team and then Google staffed up. Now there are about 172 different phones using Android.

Google Officially Announces Nexus S Phone Powered By Gingerbread [UPDATED]
In late October, the Gingerbread man statue arrived at the Google campus headquarters in Mountain View, California. And today Google has announced that the Gingerbread version 2.3 of the Android platform is available. The company has also announced the latest Android device from the Nexus line of mobile devices. The Nexus S, powered by Gingerbread, is the lead device for the new Android version launch.

Samsung Is The Top Android Seller In The U.S. [REPORT]

Research and analytics firm Gartner has announced that Samsung Electronics is the top seller of Android based phones in the U.S. based on “sell through to end users in [...] the third quarter of 2010.” Samsung has about a 32.1% Android share in the U.S. as they have shipped over 3 million total Galaxy S devices to Americans. “I want to personally thank everyone who selected a Galaxy S smartphone as their mobile handset of choice,” stated Samsung president of Mobile Dale Sohn. ”Neither of these wonderful accomplishments would have been possible without the loyalty and support of our customers.” [BGR]
Google Hong Kong Showed Demo Of Gingerbread [VIDEO]
Google Hong Kong has uploaded a video walk-through Google Voice Search in Cantonese. In the video, they inadvertently showed was what the Gingerbread operating system looks like. Check out the video demo above. [AndroidPolice]
Photos Of Unreleased LG Star Get Leaked [SCREENSHOTS]

Android phone blog Phandroid has gotten their hands of some leaked screenshots of the upcoming LG Star phone. The photos revealed that the LG Star has an HDMI-out port and runs on Froyo. The processor is a Tegra 2. Check out a few of the screenshots below:

Winamp Android App Has Wireless Syncing

The Winamp Android application is no longer in beta. The application launched about a month ago and saw over 500,000 downloads. Some of the features in the Winamp Android application includes wireless syncing through WiFi with your desktop Winamp application. The Winamp Android application also has Shoutcast radio stations.

XDA-Developers has gotten their hands on pictures of Gingerbread 2.3 and the Nexus S. The Nexus S has a 720p camera. Below is a list of specs from the Nexus S:
