Google is going to add screen mirroring to the Google Chromecast device very soon. Android devices will soon be able to mirror their screen to TVs just like how iOS supports AirPlay on Apple TV. After Google released Android 4.4.1 last week, it was intended primary to fix the camera on the Nexus 5. However, there were some changes to the Android Open Source Project that hints at what could be coming soon. The code changes above were found by Cyanogen Inc. co-founder Koushik Dutta.

Google is starting to roll out Android 4.4.1 KitKat to the Google Nexus 5, Google Nexus 4, and Google Nexus 7 LTE. The update is not much of an upgrade for the Nexus 4 and Nexus 7 LTE. It has several improvements and bug fixes. The update should arrive in the next few days.

Google is currently working on a new Android camera API. The new camera app has a burst-mode and can capture RAW file formats built into Android. Through an update to the camera API, the functions will be available to camera app developers. Code that was discovered indicates that the API would support face detection and “removable” cameras.

The Facebook Android app is going to get revamped when version 4.0 launches. In the newest Facebook test built for Android, Facebook appears to have a flatter design. The app’s navigation is under the action bar and is near the top of your display. The status, photo, and check in buttons are near the bottom. It is unknown when the updated version of Facebook for Android will be launching though.
Google wants to increase their security on the Android operating system. This is why they are now offering incentives for developers to hack Android and inform the company about potential vulnerabilities. The Patch Reward Program has been expanded to reveal security flaws in Android. Google launched the Patch Reward Program last month. Pfizer, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, has decided to advise all of their employees that have a BlackBerry to switch either to Android or iOS due to BlackBerry’s “volatile state.” Pfizer said that the employees should use their BlackBerry devices and migrate to a new device at the normal contract expiration. Pfizer currently employs 90,000 people.
