Google Android Head Andy Rubin Steps Down, Sundar Pichai Steps Up

Andy Rubin, the head of Android at Google, is stepping down from his role at the company.  Sundar Pichai will become the head of Android at Google going forward in addition to his duties as the head of the Chrome web browser and Chrome operating system.  It is unknown what Rubin will be doing going forward, but it is believed that he may be working on the Google Glass project.  Below is the announcement as made by Google CEO Larry Page:

RUMOR: OUYA To Launch With Over 481 Android Games

OUYA is an upcoming Android-based video game console that will be arriving in retail stores starting this June.  The console will launch with 481 Android games according to OUYA’s forums.  If this is true, this will be the only video game console to launch with this many titles.  Many of the games were made available on mobile devices that run on Android and the graphics will likely be scaled up for use on the OUYA console.  [Source: UberGizmo]

Google May Pay Apple Over $1 Billion In 2014 To Be Default Search Engine On iOS

According to a new report by Morgan Stanley, Google may pay Apple more than $1 billion in 2014 to remain as the default search engine on iOS.  Google paid only $82 million to be the default search in 2009 for the same agreement.  Morgan Stanley analyst Scott Devitt believes that the deal is based on a per-device basis.  And as we all know, the number of iPads, iPods, and iPhones sold has grown astronomically between 2009 and 2013.  For every dollar of revenue that Google makes from iOS from advertising and data collection, Apple receives around 75 cents from Google.

Google+ has updated their Android app to version 3.5. the Google+ app has new features like an option to link to posts and the ability to restore or remove posts that are marked as spam. Google+ for Android also has a new tray for notifications and it has additional Community moderation features.
