Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) and Dell has signed a patent-licensing agreement to cover Android and Chrome OS devices. The deal was signed on March 26th and it is a continuation of a nearly 30-year business relationship between Microsoft and Dell to deliver world-class technologies to consumers.”

Nicholas Anthony Narbone and Thomas Allen Dye have pleaded guilty to distributing counterfeit Android apps. This is the first ever conviction that involves pirated mobile app copyright infringement. Narbone and Dye pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement. These two men were accused of distributing over a million copies of copyrighted apps with a value of over $700,000.
Fitbit will be preloaded on the new HTC One (M8) in select markets. Fitbit has hit one million downloads total on Android. Fitbit launched on Android in March 2012. Fitbit is now supported on 44 Android devices. According to Distimo, Fitbit is also the most popular fitness tracking app on Google Play. Fitbit accounted for 83% of installs among the top apps in that category.
The Google Nexus 5 smartphone and Nexus 7 tablet are going to start selling in more countries across Europe from the Google Play Store. Around eight more countries will be selling the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 on the Google Play Store. The other countries include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden. Google currently sells the devices in the U.S., U.K., Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, India, and Japan. This news comes on the heels of Google Chromecast expanding to other countries.

Following the success of the Facebook for Android beta program, Facebook has launched the Messenger for Android beta program, which will receive automatic updates scheduled for every week. The Facebook for Android beta program launched in June 2013 and over 1 million testers from over 150 countries joined to help fix bugs before the official app launched.
Instagram has released version 5.1 of its Android app. The redesign makes Instagram for Android faster and profiles now load in half the time. The size of the app is now half as big as before. The visuals have been simplified and the user interface has been flattened. The app is now supported on a wider range of hardware, including lower end smartphones and Android feature phones.
