HP Announces EliteBook 2760p Tablet, ProBook 5330m, and EliteBook 2560p


HP has announced a trio of PCs. The HP EliteBook 2760p convertible tablet is 12.1 inches and it has a Sandy Bridge Core i5 and Core i7 CPU options. It also has 5.5 hours of battery life and is compatible with DataPass. It also has Windows 7 and can be bought now for $1,500.

AMD Poaches HP For CIO Michael Wolfe


Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (NYSE:AMD) has poached an executive from Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) to become their new CIO. Michael Wolfe worked at HP for five years with the most recent position being VP for Information Technology. Before that, Wolfe worked at Motorola for 24 years. “Mike has effectively led IT transformations constantly focusing on reducing operating costs and significantly improving business innovation,” stated AMD interim CEO Thomas Seifert. “His considerable talent and experience will help AMD to continue strengthening our IT infrastructure and streamline our business based on our own products and platforms.” [AllThingsD]

Leo Apotheker: WebOS Will Be On Every HP PC In 2012


Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) CEO Leo Apotheker said that every HP PC that will be shipped in 2012 “will include the ability to run webOS in addition to Windows.” Apotheker said that this will help pull in more developers to the webOS smartphone and tablet operating system. HP Acquires Data Management Company Vertica


Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) has signed a deal to acquire real-time analytics company Vertica. Vertica will enhance HP’s information optimization capabilities. Additional Palm Tablet Specs Reveal Beats Audio and Tap-To-Share Smartphone Integration


Engadget has revealed additional details about the Palm webOS tablets that have the codename “Topaz” and “Opal.” The Opal will measure 180x144x13mm and will have a 1,024×768 pixel TFT LCD display. The Topaz tablet will ship 3 months before and it will have a 241x190x13mm size.

Palm webOS Tablets Pictures Get Leaked


Engadget.com received photos from a tipster about what the HP/Palm “Topaz” webOS tablet looks like. HP would be releasing a 7-inch Opal and a 9-inch Topaz tablet. HP is having an event on February 9th about some new products. The tablets are expected to have a front-facing camera, a micro USB port, and a three speaker arrangement for stereo audio. The display can be viewed in landscape and portrait modes. The tablets are expected to arrive in a few months on WiFi, AT&T 3G, and Verizon LTE. Both tablets are expected to have 1.2GHz processors.

HP Training Video Indicates webOS Will Soon Be On A Tablet


Trainees at Hewlett Packard recently watched a training video that indicates that webOS will soon be on a tablet. The video said “That’s hot. Love it. Why can’t I do all that stuff on my PC? Maybe you will. That’s the big idea. If I could run webOS on my phone and a slate and a netbook… And they all talked to each other and shared information. A friendly little product family… That connects you to the world in amazing new ways. I’m in. Let’s go Today, let’s start with the phones. Tomorrow will come soon enough.” HP is expected to make a product announcement on February 9th. Now I have more of a reason to believe that one of those products will be a webOS tablet.

HP CMO and SVP Michael Mendenhall Steps Down


Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President Michael Mendenhall (pictured above) is departing from the company. Who is replacing him? Bill Wohl (Twitter account), the VP of Global Frield Communications and head of Integrated Communications for the co-CEO Bill McDermott is replacing Mendenhall.
