Over 80,000 Tweets Were Sent Out About Their LinkedIn Popularity

Around February 7th, people started receiving messages from LinkedIn about how they are in the top 1%, 5%, or 10% of most viewed profiles.  Around 20 million people received an e-mail from LinkedIn about the same thing.  But the marketing technique seemed to have worked out for LinkedIn since around 82,607 tweets were sent out about it according to Topsy. LinkedIn Hits Revenues Of $303.6 Million

LinkedIn has reported their Q4 earnings and they are great!  The company’s EPS was at $0.35 and Wall Street was expected $0.19.  The company’s revenues for the quarter was $303.6 million and they beat expectations of $278 million.  The company’s growth was 81% on a year-over-year basis.

Richard Branson Hits 1 Million LinkedIn Followers

Virgin founder and chairman Richard Branson has hit 1 million LinkedIn followers.  He is the first person to hit this number.  LinkedIn launched the influencers program about two months ago.  About 150 people were selected to post original content and now that number is at 170.

LinkedIn Reports Q3 Revenues Of $252 Million

LinkedIn has recently reported their Q3 financial results.  LinkedIn reported revenues of $252 million and earnings per share of $0.22.  Analysts were expecting $244 million in revenues and earnings per share of $0.11.

LinkedIn Launches Endorsements Feature

LinkedIn Endorsement
LinkedIn has launched a new feature called Endorsements.  The Endorsements feature makes it easier to acknowledge people for their specific skills.  For example if you are good at sales, one of your colleagues can give you credit towards that specific attribute or skill that you have.  With these types of testimonials, it helps build your social credibility when applying for jobs at different companies.  You can endorse your colleagues with just one click.  LinkedIn lets you endorse colleagues by clicking on top of that connection’s profile or in the new Skills & Expertise section.  Endorsements has launched in English in the U.S., India, New Zealand, and Australia.  Below is a slideshow that LinkedIn released about the feature.

Reid Hoffman Made 3,000 Times His Initial Investment In Facebook

LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman invested $37,500 in Facebook in 2005.  He revealed this info while on stage in an interview at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco when being interviewed by Michael Arrington.  When Hoffman made the investment, Facebook was being valued at around $5 million.  Even after Facebook’s stock price dropped, Hoffman’s stake in the company is still worth $75 million and he sold $36 million in shares at the IPO.  This means that he has made 3,000 times his initiative investment in Facebook.  [BusinessInsider]

LinkedIn Now Has Activity Notifications

LinkedIn has announced a new notifications feature that lets you know in real-time whenever someone has shared something, viewed your profile, accepts your invitation, etc.  A notification flag will be placed at the top of the homepage along with a new Inbox envelope icon.

LinkedIn: 175 Million Users, $228.2M Q2 Revenues, $1M Spent Fixing Hack

Earlier this week LinkedIn has announced their second quarter earnings.  They reported $228.2 million in revenues and earnings per share at $0.16.  Analysts were expecting revenues of $216 million and EPS at $0.16.  Year-over-year revenues are up around 89%.
