Decide.com Raises $8 Million In Series C

Based in Seattle, Decide.com is an online shopping startup company that has raised $8 million in Series C funding.  Decide.com helps consumers find the best deals for products by comparing multiple retail websites.  This round of funding was led by Vulcan Capital with participation from existing investors Maveron Venture Partners and Madrona Venture Group.  Decide.com has raised a total of $17 million in funding thus far.

According to TechCrunch, Shutterfly is in talks to acquire ThisLife for $25 million.  ThisLife was founded by husband and wife Matt Johnson and Andrea Johnson.  The company is a cloud-based storage application for hosting pictures.  ThisLife is especially known for having a clean user interface.

Cheezburger Raises $5 Million

Cheezburger has raised $5 million in funding according to an SEC filing.  Cheezburger is known as the parent company for several humorous content channels like I Can Has Cheezburger, Fail Blog, and Memebase.  Investors in this round include Foundry Group, Madrona Venture Group, Avalon Ventures, and SoftBank Capital.  Cheezburger was launched by Ben Huh in 2007.  The company has over 50 websites in their network.  The company makes money from advertising, book publishing, and merchandising.  The company raised $30 million in funding last year.  Cheezburger even has a reality show where the camera interviews employees and follows the day-to-day at the company called “LOLwork.”  A Cheezburger spokesperson said that the new round of funding will go towards building a social humor platform.

ThisLife Raises $2.75 Million Led By Madrona

ThisLife is a Palo Alto, California based startup company that has raised $2.75 million in funding led by Madrona Ventures. Other investors in this round of funding are Morado Ventures, Rogers Venture Partners, Brad Jefferson, Sujal Patel, and Brad Garlinghouse. ThisLife is known for organizing and sharing photos using facial recognition. ThisLife can also import photos from several existing photo services. ThisLife monetizes their service through premium accounts for photo storage: 20,000 photos or 10 hours of video for $7.99 per month ($79.99 per year) and 50,000 photos or 25 hours of video for $14.99 per month ($149.99 per year).

Rover.com Raises $3.4 Million

Rover.com, the “Airbnb for dogs” has raised $3.4 million. Just like Airbnb is an alternative to staying at hotels, Rover.com helps you find alternatives for dog kennels. Rover.com has expanded nationwide after only being supported in a few markets. Rover.com currently has 9 employees and has raised funding from Madrona Venture Group, CrunchFund, and other angel investors.

Animoto Raises $25 Million for Video Production Service

Animoto, a video editing software startup, has raised $25 million in funding. Investors include Spectrum Equity Investors, Madrona Venture Group and Amazon. TechCrunch reports that the company has more than 3 million registered users, 100,000 of whom pay for the service. Spectrum’s Ben Spero joined Animoto’s board.
