Google, Yahoo and Microsoft in Talks to Buy Hulu

Hulu is in talks with potential buyers for the video service, including Microsoft, Yahoo and Google. The interest was created by Yahoo’s recent offer to buy the site, and the meetings are being handled by Hulu’s financial advisors, Morgan Stanley and Guggenheim Partners. The LA Times reports that Hulu expects $500 million in revenue for 2011 from its subscription service and its 600+ advertisers.

Microsoft Brings Office to the Cloud

Microsoft has demonstrated their Office 365 in the cloud software, which Gizmodo comments “looks a lot like Google Apps.” All facets of Office will be available in the cloud, including mobile app versions of the suite. The mobile Office 365 will collaborate in real-time with your computer’s Office 365, which will mean being able to fix data and presentations on the go with a tap on your phone, and have the changes already made when you check on your desktop.
Skype Execs May Have Been Fired To Avoid Payouts

After being bought by Microsoft, Skype is rumored to have fired senior executives to reduce their payout before the deal’s close. Bloomberg reports that the sources of this information wish to remain anonymous, because the dismissals are not public. Those let go include Vice Presidents David Gurle, Christopher Dean, Russ Shaw and Don Albert; Chief Marketing Officer Doug Bewsher; Anna Gillespie, the head of human resources; and two executives, Ramu Sunkara and Allyson Campa.
Microsoft Acquires Risk-Management Software Company Prodiance

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has acquired Prodiance, a risk management (ERM) software company. Microsoft had acquired Prodiance “to bring more compliance functionality within Microsoft Office.” Microsoft will be integrating Prodiance software into future versions of Office and SharePoint. Prodiance is currently a Microsoft partner. [ZDNet]

Analyst: HTC Pays Microsoft $5 For Every Android Phone That They Sell
It appears that Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has an interest in Google Android doing well too. According to Citi analyst Walter Pritchard, Microsoft receives $5 for every HTC Android phone that is sold as part of a patent settlement.

Hedgefund Company Greenlight Capital President David Einhorn Wants Microsoft CEO To Step Down

Hedge fund manager David Einhorn is asking for Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) CEO Steve Ballmer to step down. Einhorn believes that Ballmer is living too much in the past. Microsoft’s stock has been at a stand still for the past 10 years and they have not made a dent in their competition against mobile and Internet markets.

Microsoft Mango Windows Phone Update Has Improved Live Tiles, Local Scout, IE9, and Deeper Social Network Integration

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) announced the next version of Windows Phone called “Mango” in New York. The new features has hundreds of features. “Mango” allows Windows Phone to expand into new markets. Microsoft has new partnerships with Acer, Fujitsu, and ZTE. The Windows Phone Marketplace currently has about 17,000 apps. Some of the new “Mango” features include:
1. Improved Live Tiles – More real-time information on the home screen
2. Deeper social network integration – Twitter and LinkedIn feeds will also be included within contact cards
3. Internet Explorer 9 – Includes support for HTML5 and hardware acceleration
4. Local Scout – Hyperlocal search results

Steve Ballmer Says Over 500 New Features Will Be In Windows Phone 7 Update

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) CEO Steve Ballmer said that there will 500 new features on the Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 operating system at the Microsoft Developers Forum 2011. Windows Phone 7.5 has the code-name Mango, which is the software that Nokia plans on using on their smartphones.
