In 1995 MTV News decided to do a segment on the Internet. The segment was done by Kurt Loder and it featured interviews with Sandra Bullock, Coolio, Dave Matthews, etc. Check out the video above.
Google+ will have business pages in about two weeks, according to an interview Ad Age conducted with Google’s Chrisitan Oestlien. The interview reveals more about the project, including exceptions to yesterday’s statement that all businesses currently running on personal Google+ pages would be shut down. Companies like Ford, who have quickly adopted the Google+ platform and already have an active community interaction on the network, get to keep their pages and will be part of the initial test group.
Shazam, a mobile music service that takes short audio recordings to identify what users are listening to, may extend their services to television. While the company’s apps currently allow users to quickly learn the name of a song playing on the radio, Shazam may soon be known for displaying discounts and bonus content when users “Shazam” television advertisements. All Things D reports that Shazam is already making deals with MTV, Syfy and Old Navy, and that they have raised $32 million in investments for this expansion.
Gabi Gregg (@gabifresh) has been hired as the first MTV Twitter Jockey (TJ). The announcement was made earlier this week. Gregg is from Detroit and was one of the 20 contestants chosen by MTV through a partnership with American Express’ ZYNC. Gregg will earn $100,000 as an MTV TJ. Gregg will now run the @MTVTJ account.
MTV is on the hunt to hire a social media expert for a position called Twitter Jockey. The Twitter Jockey will interact with MTV fans constantly. Currently MTV has 18 potential candidates, but is looking to hire two more.
